Arnaud Vandermeiren is a degreed international physical actor, director, actor coach, theatre maker. He is specialised in physical acting/theatre and clowning. He has been on the stage since he was 7, and later specialized in physical theater at the Commediaschool a full-time two year training based on fysical theater.
Arnauds classes are based on one of the best techniques for actors, "The Jacques Lecoq method" this method is founded on the dynamics of movement. It employs the body as the first element, which recognizes the world through live imitation of all which moves from life to theatre. The study applies basic movement rules to dramatic work and actors’ interpretation. It studies theatre styles developed in the history of theatre and reinterprets them into a study of perception of present life. The teaching becomes a living support for the student – which overcomes forms – in accordance with the constant rhythm of life. Lecoq himself believed in the importance of freedom and creativity from his students, giving an actor the confidence to creatively express themselves, rather than being bogged down by stringent rules.
The message Arnaud shares in the workshop and coaching is to serve the group and the public with the artistic gifts we received. Arnaud believes in making life changing theatre, so the goal is not only to develop the skills and the production, but the individual artist as well.
